![]() How is neutering more humane than declawing? I want to start out by saying I am against declawing in most cases..I had my cat declawed 4 years ago, before i knew what exactly it was. I regret it now, even though he is very vibrant and playful even now. ...That being said, I have been thinking a lot lately about why it is considered to be inhumane to declaw and "break the fingers" , while neutering is perfectly excepted in all regions of the world. Even though it entails "one of the simplest surgical procedures performed in all of veterinary medicine. The cat is fasted over night so that anesthesia is performed on an empty stomach. The scrotum is opened with a small incision and the testicles are brought out. The cords are either pulled free and tied to eachother or a small suture is used to tie the cords and the testicle is cut free. " please don't tell me so that there are no unwanted euthenasias done to street animals that will then occur. A good pet owner will keep their animals monitored at all times. i don't know that it is especially now with the lasic declaw procedure that leaves the digit intact. the recovery time is only a day or two. i think that spay and neutering is needed if for nothing else than to offset irresponsible owners who let their pets run loose. my cats aren't declawed now but you can bet that if they start tearing up my stuff and i can't get them to stop they will be making a trip to the vet. |
